20 to 26 December 2016 in Chelyabinsk, Russian ladies 2017 Oblast. Medals were awarded in the disciplines of men’s singles, ladies’ singles, pair skating, and ice dancing.

17 season, Russian skaters will compete in domestic qualifying events and national championships for various age levels. Russian Championships, the Russian Junior Championships, and the Russian Cup Final. The senior Championships will be held in Chelyabinsk from 20 to 26 December 2016. Competitors will qualify through international success or by competing in the Russian Cup series’ senior-level events. The Russian figure skating federation published the full list of entries on 13 December 2016.

Mikhail Kolyada won his first national title by a margin of 23 points over the silver medalist, Alexander Samarin. Moving up from 7th after the short program, former champion Maxim Kovtun took the bronze medal. Medvedeva successfully defended her national title, outscoring Alina Zagitova by twelve points. Soloviev obtained their sixth national title.
